This section contains exemptions to a city law at §15-6-122 that prohibits providing single-use carryout bags at City events, events on City property, and at business establishments in the city; and requires businesses to prominently displayed signage advising customers of the benefit of reducing, reusing and recycling and of the need to use reusable carryout bags. Exemptions include, among others, bags used by a consumer inside a business establishment to: contain bulk items, such as produce, nuts, grain; bags used to contain or wrap frozen foods, meat, or fish, whether or not prepackaged; and bags used by a nonprofit corporation or other hunger relief charity to distribute food and grocery products.
