Thomas County strives to educate citizens on healthy lifestyles and currently the county is experiencing an obesity epidemic that puts people at risk for other diet-related health issues, as part of the County's education efforts they are establishing healthy beverage vending on county property. Departments with vending machines must ensure that all beverage items in the machines meet nutrition guidelines in the resolution and that all future vending machine contracts contain language requiring items to meet specific nutrition standards. Resolution 2016-23 § 2.
